Former Wenzhou vice mayor who pocketed fiberglass mesh to manage trial
Yang Xiuzhu, China's most-wanted fugitive who have been busy for more than a decade, is scheduled to be extradited, which observers see being a closer cooperation between China and the US in hunting fugitives.
Listed first in the wanted list of 100 economic fugitives released by Chinese authorities in April, Yang is charged with embezzling over $40 million and fled america in 2003. She was detained after entering the united states by using a fake Dutch passport a year ago.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesperson Lou Martinez said in an interview with China News Service on Thursday that Yang, 68, is currently detained through the US authorities and will also be extradited to China.
Yang happens to be inside a fiberglass mesh detention facility in Nj. Martinez said "As being a foreign fugitive, Yang is definitely an ICE enforcement priority."
"Yang can be a significant figure in China's ongoing look for economic fugitives not as a result of alleged income she embezzled, as well as the prolonged timeframe she has escaped police force," Li Danyang, an investigation fellow publicly administration, also at Beihang University, told the Global Times.

Li said cooperation with Western countries in tracking fugitives was relatively short of the past, but recent cases like Yang's prove significant progress has been manufactured such cooperation between China and the US.
China in March announced so fiberglass mesh has provided a "priority" list towards the US of Chinese officials that are suspected of corruption and they are considered to have fled to the US, requesting that the country extradite it well to China.
